"Seldom during these hectic times do you find a person like James who is willing to reach out and help so many people indirectly and directly, unselfishly.
James is a person who leads with obvious passion the many projects that he has committed himself to. His blogs and websites attest to his obvious passion for helping others learn how to develop their own safety cultures and understand social networking. There is way of telling how many thousands of lives James has touched over his many decades of service.’

I am proud to call James a friend although we have never met personally. My first indirect introduction was when I was attending Columbia Southern University through my text "Developing an Effective Safety Culture a Leadership Approach." It is one that I refer to often now and over the past years and "I don’t leave home with out it" while working at various projects around the country. Only recently did I realize that one who continues to give me thoughtful advice, suggestion, encouraging words and even passes on a few job postings was the co-author of this informative book.

People like James are truly a rare treasure which I am sure many, many others will certainly attest to. The world is a much better place because of people like him." Larry Dustin has recommended your work as a Safety Professional

"I first met James in 2003 when I began speaking on leadership safety in the workplace. His safety expertise is beyond reproach. He is a noted author and safety mentor to many corporate leaders. Jim’s also has a driving passion in learning and teaching social media marketing, which helps spread the safety message to the masses. Because of this, I noticed that his safety message was among the top pages in nearly every search I did. A quick tour of the WordPress websites he designed on quickly revealed he knew what he was doing. I hired Jim to help my two companies, Target Leadership and OdieVision LLC, in several social media areas: Website design and optimization, Blogging, keyword analysis, LinkedIn postings, Group Networking, and Free Press Releases.

Jim is not only very talented in all of these areas, but he is also a fantastic instructor. He is very patient as he guides you through the maze of "why" and "how" in order to set you up to gain the best exposure for your brand and material. I highly recommend Jim for any workplace safety information, and social media marketing expertise. Your return on investment is 10 fold!"

“When you hear Safety Professional, Safety Coach, Mentor, Safety Social Network, only one profession covers all of these areas. James Roughton is the Renaissance Safety Profession and I would recommend his services to any organization that wants to take Safety Excellence to the next level. "Jim and I spent lots of time together with the challenge of changing the safety culture at MeadWestvaco". He provided the organization with the necessary tools and resources to make us successful. He’s one that is fully engaged in his discipline and is well respected nationally for his talents. “I had the distinct honor of working with Jim Roughton during my time as Plant Manager of the Warrington, PA facility for MeadWestvaco. When Jim first met with our group we were amidst a process of revamping and making our safety process more robust and effective. As we struggled to get this process on the right track Jim from day one of his first visit took his no nonsense straight forward approach both with upper management and our hourly folks and immediately I could sense a change in the philosophy and energy level around making our system one we could be proud of. Jim used his extensive training, knowledge, and know how to give my folks and me the right tools to do the job. Jim took the complexity out of the process and showed us how to better develop our safety systems, procedures and training programs to best suite our facility while putting us on the right track to fulfilling our corporate requirements. Jim took the time to personally get to know each and every employee in our facility and there was not a visit when he did not take the time to walk the floors of the plant to talk one on one and touch as many folks as he could to hear from each of them how they felt the safety system was working and what did they feel could be being done to make it more effective. Jim’s visits consistently energized the facility with his non wavering attitude and commitment to safety and to making us a safer facility. I would consider it an honor to work besides Jim again as he was a fantastic mentor. It is for these reasons that I write this recommendation and can say without reservation that Jim Roughton would be a great addition to any company.” July 1, 2011 – John Whitely, Plant Manager, MeadWestvaco (colleague) worked directly with you

“It will come as no surprise that James is one of the most honest and sincere Safety Professionals I have come across since joining LinkedIn in May 2009. During my one year study period for CRSP certification, I was able to use him to get to the bottom of any questions I had about Occupational Health and Safety matters, and in the process "rekindle" my social network skills which he is an expert at. His contribution continues to this day for all the different groups in LinkedIn, we could not ask for a better "mentor and coach" online than him. His publications speak volumes for his experience which he shares openly on line both in LinkedIn Group Discussions or Share Point Presentations which are available for reference material for all LinkedIn Group HSE Professionals. “Ever since James Roughton decided to a lead in our LinkedIn Safety awareness and professional development group discussions these past several years, I have seen a plethora of geniuses come out of the woodwork with one creative idea or another. Jim’s detailed approach to a topic completely immerses the reader in the exchanges he generates. It wasn’t long before learning that Jim has a proven track record in helping jump start one’s passion quickly. Curious about this unique ability, I began noticing that Jim was a consummate thought leader, pioneer and innovator. During one of our exchanges, I learned that Jim had developed productivity systems and tools to help the safety professional improve their daily work activities based on his own past experiences for new and beginning production managers, safety professionals, and other disciplines. While I know Jim’s humility will catch him by surprise, I wanted to share my thoughts in a sincere way. I believe his LinkedIn activity alone has created a platform for meeting other like-minded professionals, mutual exchanges and learning that has enhanced my overall workplace violence mitigation and workplace safety knowledge. You have been a source of my continued self-development. You would add value as an outstanding key leader at any organization including the Nater Associates, Ltd. team.” July 29, 2010 – Felix P. “met James Roughton about 5 years ago we had no safety program and I was being placed as Safety Manager at my site. Mr. Roughton came in told us in management things we did not want to hear about our culture about ourselves and after beating us up pretty good he helped us take notice of how important the obligation of safety was and how in steps we would make changes to our future. First changes to how we acted, how we thought, and how our employees perceived us in management. Mr. Roughton broke down walls and tore away missing gaps.
